Migrants form the most vulnerable part of our society and often have a precarious legal status. Therefore, human rights play an important role for the protection of their rights. The course will analyze the application of human rights to a migrant’s life cycle – from departure in the country of origin to arrival and stay in a host country and a possible return. The special situation of asylum seekers, refugees, regular and irregular migrants will be highlighted. The course will also take into account existing case-law of the European Court of Human Rights and other international instances.
