This course has two parts; 1) electrochemistry and 2) thermal and Raman analysis.
1) Electrochemistry by Nam Hee Kwon
The lecture starts at the fundamentals of electrochemistry with several exercises and well known examples. The second part is to introduce the applications used by electrochemical techniques and the principals of such applications. We will combine the fundamentals and the applications of electrochemistry. The third part is to learn the electrochemical instruments and analytical tools to characterize electrodes or materials.
In the end of the lecture, the students are expected to understand the electrochemical reactions, application and characterizations.

2) Thermal and Raman analysis by Pierre Brodard
The first part of the lecture is dedicated to modern thermal analysis methods: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TGA). The students will learn their working principles and relationships with fundamental concepts of physical chemistry, as well as their most critical technical aspects. In addition, the paramount importance of these methods for thermal safety of chemical reactions will be illustrated. The second part of the lecture is dedicated to Raman spectroscopy: starting from the basics of vibrations (classical and quantum mechanics) to the technical aspects of the spectrometers (lasers, confocality, CCDs, resolution, etc.), the students will then discover the most recent applications of this fascinating characterization method: surface- and tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS and TERS), and more.

The lectures are in power point presentation and a black board will be used for the detail explanation. The PDF version of the lecture is available in online.
