This course provides an introduction to Crowdtangle, a social media analytics tool owned and operated by Facebook for which academics can get privileged research access upon application. Crowdtangle allows the analysis of large-scale digital trace data generated on Facebook and Instagram. This course is an optional offer (no ECTS) for Ph.D. students, postdocs, and interested faculty of the Department of Communication and Media Research (DCM). This Moodle page will offer short video recordings that explain the functionalities of Crowdtangle as well as give tips on how to best use the tool and data for research purposes. Participants can use the forum to ask questions and suggest research questions that are relevant to their own research and that could be tackled through Crowdtangle data.
