Ethnography
Ethnography is an important methodological approach in social research that aims to provide rich and detailed data about people in particular sociocultural contexts. In this Seminar, we will gain knowledge about what is ethnography, what ethnographers do in practice and the sorts of data that are usually gathered in the field. Methods as participant observation, unstructured interviews and visual ethnography will be explored. The use of ethnography in educational settings, as well as the possibilities and limitations of ethnographic research will be addressed. The Seminar is both theoretical and practical. Thus, students will experience doing ethnography, while reflecting theoretically on their own research practice.
