This course covers a range of functional inorganic materials.  It focusses on three topic areas, (1) the physical properties of nanomaterials, which are discussed on the basis of their dimension (0D, 1D, 2D, 3D).  (2) Materials for Li-ion batteries, consisting of anode and cathode materials, electrolyte and separator.  Solid state electrolytes and the use of nanomaterials in batteries is also discussed. (3) Materials for photocatalysis, discussing the fundamental principles, the catalysts used and the role of catalyst morphology.
