Warum sind Erziehung und Bildung als eigenständige Praxen zu denken? Welche Vorstellungen und Theorien gibt es von Erziehung und Bildung und wie sind sie mit Vorstellungen von Gesellschaft verbunden? Welche Rolle spielen Institutionen? Wie können Erziehung und Bildung angesichts aktueller gesellschaftlicher Herausforderungen gedacht werden?
In der Vorlesung wird zunächst der Notwendigkeit von Erziehung nachgegangen und daran anschließend das Sprechen über Erziehung und Bildung in der Wissenschaft eröffnet. Anhand der theoretischen Diskussionen um Erziehung, Bildung, Lernen und
Sozialisation in und ausserhalb von Institutionen werden Einblicke in systematische und aktuelle Fragestellungen rund um Erziehung und Bildung in sich wandelnden Gesellschaften gegeben.

Quelles sont les représentations et les théories de l'éducation et de la formation et comment sont-elles liées aux représentations de la société ? Quel est le rôle des institutions ? Comment l'éducation et la formation peuvent-elles être pensées face aux défis sociaux actuels ?
Le cours abordera tout d'abord la nécessité de l'éducation et ouvrira ensuite la discussion sur l'éducation et la formation dans le domaine scientifique. A l'aide des discussions théoriques sur l'éducation, la formation, l'apprentissage et la
socialisation dans et hors des institutions, des aperçus seront donnés sur des questions systématiques et actuelles autour de l'éducation et de la formation dans des sociétés en mutation.

-----Why should upbringing and education be thought of as independent practices? What ideas and theories of education exist and how are they linked to ideas of society/sociality? What role do institutions play? How can upbringing and education be conceptualised in the light of current social/cultural/political challenges?
The lecture will begin by examining the necessity of education, referring to «classical positions of education», and then open up the discussion of education in the humanities. On the basis of theoretical discussions about upbringing, education, learning and
socialisation in and outside of institutions, insights are given into systematic and current issues surrounding upbringing and education in changing societies.
