Overview:
The second-year Advanced English Programme (Autumn Semester: “Informal Spoken English”; Spring Semester: “Integrated Skills”) provides practical work to help BA-S1 students refine their speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills to develop advanced proficiency using English in various contexts. This second semester focuses on the ability to speak and write critically using an extended range of vocabulary specific to given topics (e.g., the environment, technology, education, the arts, etc.). Students will gain practical experience designing and delivering presentations and leading discussions. The principal course project will involve a research paper and a presentation accompanied by a specially designed classroom activity. Students will conduct research, provide peers with a carefully selected article or video, lead peers in guided discussion, and write a follow-up reflection.
The Guided Autonomous Study (GAS) is conducted parallel to the course. Working in small groups, students will create an amateur informative film related to group members’ project topics. The planning and preparation for the film will be done both during and outside of class time, and the finished films will be screened during the final week of classes.
