As the English department's current curriculum only offers limited opportunities for creative writing, the English Fachschaft wishes to create a space where students can be encouraged to experiment with writing poetic or literary works without pressure. For this cycle of writing workshops, we will meet twice a month: once with a professor to guide us in our writing, and once with students only. Each month will follow a loose theme:
- March: Poetry-Writing
- April: Remixing Myth and Folklore
- May: Short stories and Crime-Writing
During the student-only sessions, while we will provide prompts and thematic writing support, you will also be free to write whatever you would like. At the end of the semester, you will be invited to submit the work you have written in the context of these workshops for edition and compilation into a magazine, which will be made available sometime during the summer.
Note: These workshops are mainly created by and for students in the English Department. However, they are open to all students at the University of Fribourg, so long as you write in English :)
