This course provides an advanced exploration into qualitative research methods, with a particular focus on arts-based, visual, participatory and new materialist methodologies in education research. Students critically examine the theoretical, ethical, and methodological foundations of visual and participatory inquiry while developing practical skills for designing and conducting qualitative research. Through engagement with contemporary scholarship and applied research examples, students explore how visual methods can generate rich insights into educational experiences and social contexts.
Theoretical and conceptual inputs will alternate with hands-on, practical application of the ideas to give students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with conducting research and reflecting on their researcher identities.
