This course is designed for MSc students to teach basic and advanced separation and characterization techniques. It covers fundamental physics and the application to chemistry for structural characterization and separation of molecules. More specifically, the first part of the class focuses on the fundamentals of chromatography, the second part deals with advanced characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD and finally the last part outlines the principles of surface area analysis and gas separation membranes.
