Description

In this seminar we will discuss the nature of the mind, its place in the universe and its relation to the body and the brain. We will learn to look clearly and critically at the positions taken by thinkers throughout the ages, moving from Descartes to Dennet, on topics such as dualism, functionalism, consciousness and of course zombies.

Goals

Explain and understand the key concepts and theories in philosophy of mind. Critically evaluate the pros and cons of the presented theories and concepts. Coherently present a philosophical position, argue in favor of it or against, and extrapolate its consequences and implications.
