  • General Information

    In this course, you will learn to use BASH, the Bourne Again Shell. BASH is the standard command line tool on Unix.

    Install BASH on your Computer

    To learn it, you'll need to bring your computer and have BASH installed:

    1. If you run Linux on your computer, you are all set.
    2. If you have a mac with OSX, you have something very similar to BASH already installed. This is sufficient for the course.
    3. If you have Windows, you will need to install BASH. You have thtee options:
      1. The recommended option is to install the "Windows Subsustem for Linux" WSL as indicted here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/ubuntu/9nblggh4msv6
      2. Alternatively, you may install a virtual Linux on your computer using Virtualbox as explained here: https://itsfoss.com/install-linux-in-virtualbox/
      3. You switch from Windows to Linux!

    Struggle installing BASH on your Windows machiene? We will help you on Monday October 5 as of 9:15!

    If you have Linux, OSX or properly installed WSL, no need to show up before 10:15.

    Presence List / Your Preference

    We assume that not all people will fit into the room due to COVID regulations. Please fill in the presence sheet before attending the lecture.

    In the list, please indicate your prefer mode (physical presence vs following online) for Monday October 5. We will organize depending on these preferences.
