In this course, we will read about and discuss research on various topics of spatial cognition, such as spatial navigation, map use, spatial transformations, memory for spatial locations, and the relation between spatial and numerical thinking. The course will take a general perspective, but we will also touch on developmental aspects of spatial cognition.
The course will be fully in English. Participants will be expected to read up to 10 articles and contribute to the discussion thereof. Active participation is required to receive course credit. Course assessments will be based on participants’ oral presentations and discussions of research articles, as well as a poster-style handout. The introductory session at the beginning of the semester is mandatory, as presentation topics will be distributed, and the format of the course will be explained in detail.
