This course offers a gentle and broad introduction to data work and data literacy, tailored for those without prior quantitative experience. We’ll embark on a journey through the fundamentals of data in social sciences, exploring various types of data, their sources, and how they reflect real-world processes and lived experiences. You’ll learn to identify, gather, and visualize mostly numeric data, developing a data-driven mentality crucial for contemporary research and decision-making. While we might touch on some computational tools, our focus will be on building your conceptual understanding and analytical thinking skills rather than intensive coding.
