The course provides a general overview of qualitative research methods
suitable for a research project in human geography. It provides students
with training in empirical research and analysis in order to strengthen
their autonomy.
Ethnographic methods are presented (in-depth interview, observation)
before focusing on visual methods and their manifold uses (semiotic
analysis, participatory photo, photo-elicitation).
Groups of students are required to build a research framework and
put it into practice through exercises. They are asked to submit a final
reflexive paper.
