B1-B2 Introducing Academic English: Oral Communication in Academic Contexts; Spring Workshop [SS 22]

This is a highly interactive and challenging workshop-style course, covering typical situations in which you will need to speak English in academic, general everyday and professional contexts. This course is open to all students and academic staff from across the university with an intermediate to upper-intermediate level of English (B1-B2). The main areas of focus on this course include: delivering professional presentations, participating actively in group discussions and pronunciation activities. Regular interaction with interesting and engaging reading and listening texts will provide the ideal platform in which to develop your speaking skills in terms of your fluency, accuracy and pronunciation. 

This course can also be taken with B1-B2 Introducing Academic English: Written Communication in Academic Contexts.

Evaluation: Regular attendance and active participation is required to pass this course, as is the successful completion of all four speaking assignments: plan and deliver a professional presentation, recite a famous poem (a reading aloud pronunciation task), participate in a group discussion on a selected topic and demonstrate effective interactive communication skills in a collaborative speaking task. In meeting these requirements and based on your performance in the speaking tasks, you will be awarded a final grade and also earn 3 ECTS.
