This course focuses on emotions within social interactions, including communication and emotion regulation. With this course, students will gain knowledge on how emotions are integrated in daily life and in interpersonal interactions. This course focuses on different types of relationships and will be divided in four parts: In the first part, the course will introduce emotions, their definition, functions, as well as models associated. The second part will provide information on emotion regulation and on associations with communication. The third part will dive into each type of social interactions and emotions-related theories and research, namely: parents-children, peers and friendships, intimate relationships and working relationships. The fourth part will include presentations of the associations between emotions and psychopathology on the one hand, and emotions and cultural differences on the other hand.
