SSE.00420 - Justice in managing environmental challenges [AS-2026]

This seminar will critically reflect on justice issues in the context of environmental practice and ethics using current research literature. These questions are central in different contexts where unequal burdens of environmental risks or burdens for environmental protection occur. 

In autumn 2026, the focus will lie on the ethical dimensions of environmental policy, resource management and climate change mitigation and adaptation justice. Students will analyse the potential and pitfalls of competing theories of justice and moral theories for resolving environmental challenges. We will also examine the responsibilities owed to vulnerable and marginalised communities.
